Codemasters’ next Dirt Rally is finally here
Racing video games have their own thrill, especially when it comes from a reputed developer. If you fancy such games, it’s time you put your hands together for Dirt Rally 2.0. This racing video game is the next upcoming simulator from Codemasters, who intends to launch the game for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One. Since its launch in 2015, the Dirty Rally series has garnered a huge fan-base. Critically too initially praised its detailed rally stages and realistic handling.
Now the game company is releasing Dirt Rally 2.0 on 26 February 2019, and it’s going to start from where players left in the previous game. But there are some really cool features in store in this installment. The developers are now offering more classic rally cars along with a host of machines and tracks.
New stages and cars
The Dirty Rally 2.0 is bringing several new stages for players. The developers have built six new stages that players can zoom through at the speed of light. You can expect to see the dusty tracks of New Zealand and Spain’s undulating tarmac roads in the new stages. All of them are rich in visual variety and gives a distinct feel to players.
In addition to the six stages, players will be able to race through eight designated circuits from the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Unlike the usual point-to-point races, rallycross events in Dirt Rally 2.0occur on small circuits that have a mixture of dirt and tarmac surfaces. Codemasters expresses plans to expand the number of stages and tracks via downloadable game packs.
If you are wondering about the cars, the official car list hasn’t come out yet. But you can expect some really cool vehicles coming to the franchise. The best of the lineup would be the radical Porche 911 RGT. This is a unique 997-generation 911 GT3 RS that Richard Tuthill, a Porche expert, converted to bring to par with superior rally cars.
Next in the lineup is Audi S1 Quattro, a model that has revolutionized the concept of rallying with its iconic five-cylinder engine and four-wheel drive system. The Dirt Rally 2.0 will also bring Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk.2 and a bunch of high-tech rally machines, like the Citroen C3 R5 and Peugeot 208 T16R5.
An interesting feature of the Dirt Rally 2.0is the new weather modeling system, which would require players to take a prudent approach to drive as weather changes can affect their grip over their vehicle. Not to forget, the weather will also influence your visibility in certain stages of the game. You’ll have to take care of your car as damage sustained during a race will carry forward to the next event.
If you are a die-hard fan of car racing games, then the Dirty Rally 2.0has a lot in store for you to explore. This successor to the Colin McRae Rally series is worth the try for a discerning racer.
