The gameplay of Mortal Kombat 11 finally revealed
Since its inception in 1992, the Mortal Kombat franchise has been wooing gamers who fancy horror-fantasy themed fighting video games. With the original franchise spawning many spin-offs and sequels, Mortal Kombat is counted amongst the most successful action franchises and the highest-grossing media franchises in the history of video games.
Now the fraternity is eagerly waiting for Mortal Kombat 11, whose release on Xbox One, PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch was announced at The Game Awards 2018. NetherRealm, the developer of the game, is all poised to reveal the gameplay, its combat roster, additional story elements and a lot more at the multiple events lined up at London and Los Angeles.
Mortal Kombat 11 is expected to redefine the core theme of the franchise. But that’s not all about the game. Here are a few other things you can expect from the game:
- The core of the game
Mortal Kombat 11 is expected to be a one-on-one fighting video game, with two-dimensional gameplay in a three-dimensional environment. You can see the installation maintains the power bars, with great scope to improve moves. The core of this installation will not be very different from Mortal Kombat X, which invited gamers to plunge into variations of pre-established move-sets.
But this lineup may have two instead of three sets per character, along with some customizable options. At the same time, gamers can expect the return of fatalities for sure, providing new ways to end the life of your opponent.
- Gameplay Modes
The Story Mode, in which the same guy makes four victories, will make a comeback in Mortal Kombat 11 with a twist. You might see some shared chapters between two characters or a non-linear story where you play four fights with the same character but in different time periods.
Not to forget the Test Your Luck game mode, which underwent a huge improvement in Mortal Kombat X. You can certainly expect to see some new form of mechanic to team up and garner rewards.
- Main characters of the game
In addition to Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Liu Kang and Raiden, you can expect some more characters to return in Mortal Kombat 11. Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, Kano, Sonya, Kitana, Jax, and Reptile are few characters on the combat roster of the game.
At the same time, the installation seems to have an inclination towards the Death, with Baraka, Quan Chi, and Mileena likely to rest in peace. Although it’s sure that the game will showcase new characters, the number seems to be less compared to its predecessor.
There’s no doubt that the Mortal Kombat franchise is one of the most beloved series in the category of action video games. We can, however, expect Mortal Kombat 11 to mark the end of a trilogy. Although it shares the same base as its predecessors, new innovations can always be expected. You are likely to like this game if you have been a fan of Mortal Kombat (2011) and Mortal Kombat X. Here’s the trailer for you.
