Today, superhero content is huge, and when done right, it seems to be an instant hit. We have seen the immense success of the Marvel and DC movie franchises in recent years, and thanks to these, the demand for superhero content has grown across the globe.
In response to this demand, many developers and publishers have created engaging and interactive video games, which are superhero-driven. One of these is One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, a Japanese video game which is based on the popular manga series, One Punch Man.
One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows doesn’t have a release date as of now, but we do know that it will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It should be noted that Microsoft Windows will be only available in digital form.
Setting and plot
One Punch Man follows the story of Saitama, a superhero who can defeat his enemies with just one punch. So, despite being a superhero, his ironic power results in him leading a rather boring life because he always defeats his enemies way too easily. To add on to the irony, no one even knows Saitama, as the name of the game suggests.
An interesting gameplay
The game has created quite a buzz in the gaming community because of how ironic the whole idea of this superhero is. As the name suggests, One Punch Man can literally defeat his enemies with just a single punch.
So how do you make the game interesting when all your player needs to take down enemies is just a single blow? Where is the thrill and challenge in having a fight that will possibly be over in just a few seconds? When Saitama’s superpower is that he can defeat any enemy with just one punch, how will he be represented without making him appear way too over-the-top?
So far, we know that in the game, players won’t simply go around punching everything as Saitama. Instead, it is a 3v3 fighter where Saitama and other characters like Genos, Hellish Blizzard, Mumen Rider and Speed-o’-Sound Sonic will all be playable. On top of this, each of them will have their own fighting styles. This means that players can form their own teams using their favorite characters.
Associate Brand Manager, Abelina Villegas said that the game is designed in such a way that it will appeal to fans as well as newcomers. One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows has definitely got the gaming world excited to see how the gameplay will be for such an over-the-top superhero game.
Publisher of the game, Bandai Namco has not released much detail about the game, except for the trailer which was released. The only thing we got from this trailer was that it will be a classic arena style fighting game. Apart from this, more details are expected to come out eventually before the release of the game. Until then, One Punch Man will keep us on our toes.
