Here’s Why Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is Worth Your Time This Year
An action role-playing video game that has been gaining a lot of fans across the globe ever since its release in August 2016, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is game that every gamer should be playing. Developed by Eidos Montreal, the game is available for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Today on Voidu Blog we talk about it.
Plot and setting
Set in the year 2029 in a cyberpunk future, the events of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided unfold two years after Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the game’s predecessor. With secret organizations, including the Illuminati, running the world, many of the humans are mechanized using augmentations, which are artificial organs that can enhance performance. There is also a stark social difference between the “augs” and other humans who are morally opposed to augmentation technology, or whose bodies reject the augmentations, or too poor to afford it.
The main character Adam Jensen is the chief of security at Sarif Industries, a huge pro-augmentation corporation. He himself is heavily augmented, and when he found out that the Illuminati is planning to use a biochip to limit the abilities of augmented people, he strongly opposed it.
Much of the game is set in Prague and follows the adventures of Adam as he uncovers the truth about the secret societies running the world.
The gameplay for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a combination of role-playing, stealth and first-person shooter elements. It features plenty of exploration as well as combat, and players are also allowed to customize the abilities of the main characters.
Players take the character of Adam Jensen, a man who has been augmented using mechanical cybernetic implants. The entirety of the game’s environment is explored in the first person, from the perspective of the character. However, certain activities including talking to non-playable characters or NPCs, hiding behind cover as well as several attack animations are played out in third person view.
When players find NPCs, they can help them advance along the main story quest as well as optional side quests. When these quests are completed, Adam is rewarded with experience points or EXP. When enough experience points are collected, Praxis Points can be unlocked so that abilities can be upgraded. The game also has black market vendors, from where you can get materials, supply equipment and weapons using the in-game currency.
Adam has the ability to adopt a stealthy approach, where he can get past unnoticed by guards as well as security devices. He can also move his enemies’ bodies into hiding places and move between covers without getting caught. Players also have the option of modifying lethal and non-lethal weapons with parts they collect from different areas. Moreover, conversations that Adam has with the NPCs can have different responses that can affect the development of events in the game.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a game that perfectly blends gameplay combinations, which makes the game stand out. Besides, its top-notch design makes this a game that is both exciting and alluring. If you are not convinced yet you can still try Deus Ex: Human Revolution first.
