Need for Speed Heat (also known as NFS Heat) is a racing video game created by Ghost Games and released by Electronic Arts. It was released for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One.
Also, it is the 24th installment in the Need for Speed lineup and marks the 25th anniversary of the series. Let’s take a look at the storyline and gameplay of the game here.
On starting Need for Speed Heat, you arrive in Palm City to attend the Speedhunter Showdown. This is a city-wide racing exhibition that lets you compete with racers from all across the country.
Lt. Frank Mercer is the leader of Palm City’s High-Speed Task Force and announces his purpose to ruthlessly pursue and lock up all street racers in the city.
In Need for Speed Heat, you must purchase a racing car from Lucas Rivera, a local mechanic who will help you enter your first Showdown and mentor you throughout. You need his younger sister called Ana Rivera, who’s a member of the underground street racing fraternity in the city.
She introduces you to The League, which has the city’s best street racers. You form a new crew with Ana, top the ranks of the city’s street racers, and secure a spot in The League.
After acing a race, you and Ana will spot Officer Shaw’s car in a parking lot, and Ana makes you pull over so she can destroy it. Unexpectedly, you see Shaw meeting with Eva Torres (Shontae Saldana), who is another officer in Mercer’s task force.
Shaw shows Torres bags of cash in the trunk of his Camaro, taken from street racers following Mercer’s orders. Torres grabs one of the bags but warns that the brashness of Shaw and Mercer is threatening their unit’s activities. You and Ana then bring The League to help expose Mercer’s activity by crashing a publicity event for the Showdown.
Need for Speed Heat is set in an open world environment. Palm City is believed to be a fictionalized replica of the city of Miami, Florida, and its surrounding regions. The in-game map has diverse landscapes, including mountains and open meadows.
In the day mode, you can participate in sanctioned race events, which give you cash rewards to spend on new vehicles and upgrades. At night, you can be a part of illegal street races, which would earn you rep. The more rep you make, the more aggressive the police force will be at night.
Need for Speed Heat will feature 127 cars from 33 reputed manufacturers. It will see Ferrari making a comeback to the game after being away from Need for Speed Payback because of licensing issues.
But unlike Payback, performance upgrades in Need for Speed Heat do not come in random Speed cards. You can unlock them by rep and winning races. At the same time, you won’t find loot boxes. But time savers, which show various collectibles on the map, and paid downloadable content will be featured.
Need for Speed Heat is a racing game that will plunge you into an exciting, open world full of racing cars and street action. Read on to know about its story and gameplay.
